Subject: a/c heating system
Message:
here's a situation with the car. it appears that the a/c heating system has been altered, i presume to get the a/c to work. obviosly you know what the system is supposed to do. right now the following is what appears to be happening: 1) the a/c works, but the compressor is only activated by pushing the blue a/c button in. 2) the "auto" and "hi" positions on the cluster appear to do the same thing, ie. a high fan mode. 3) the low fan mode does turn the fan speed down. 4) the defrost mode does not activate anything, no air goes to the windscreen. 5) the temperature control appears not to have any effect on the temp. of the
air; however it has been fairly hot here so i am not certain about this. also, i am not sure if the heat works, due to the uncertainty of the
temp. control, the relatively hot days we've been having (72 F in the a.m., 90 F in the afternoon) and the apparent failure of the defrost.

some wires appear to have been disconnected and/or rerouted in the engine compartment associated with the system and a new a/c compressor appears to have been installed.

my mechanic says a wirimg diagram of the a/c, heat etc. system would help as well as probably a diagram of the vacuum system as this system would usually control the opening and closing of air direction ducts of the system.

any suggestions or a wiring diagram or vacuum diagram for an 86 left hand drive would be appreciated.

thanks.
